pistachio_01|english| Pistachio is a project from the authorship of Rita Leal, designer by profession and crafter in her free time. It all started in the year 2004: "I started with jewellery but later I felt it was necessary to do different things and I started making photo albums, notebooks and diaries of various formats and for different purposes."

All the pieces are unique or in very small units and she is always creating new models that appear from new ideas, suggestions or special orders: "I love doing custom pieces because I like the challenge of working with the restrictions from the customers! The materials are also a good source of inspiration and often 'lead' the entire work process."

it’s coming…

dloya_01|english| Colour and miniatures have always fascinated Teresa, the crafter behind D.Loya e o fimo amestrado. All of her craft production has always followed those principles. As she likes to explain: “from the clay bijoux line of Aztec motifs, presented in my first serious crafts fair (at 13 years old) to the Murano inspired designs I produce today, the leap was quite logical although it took quite a long time. I was already in College, when a study on glass taught me about the century old Murano Millefiori technique with which I readily fell in love and quickly applied to an easier medium: polymer clay”.

From then on the production grew in size and success, so much that she decided to turn it into her professional activity: “the first results were surprisingly good... Miniaturization of pattern and variety of colour were easy to accomplish, albeit time consuming. I tested the results on Christmas presents with some success... My young nieces took a bite out of every candy like bead I made for their necklaces!”

Today she works at her home office and couldn't be happier! Her main obsessions are colour, detailed patterns and of course some fashion sense! This maintains the constant search for new designs every season.

and more…

amo_te_mil_milhoes_01|english| Amo-te mil milhões is a Portuguese brand from Virginia Otten. As she explains, the name 'Amo-te mil milhões' was born from conversations between mother and son: "I was looking for something to relate what I mean with what I do. My son Miguel, who still doesn’t like to sleep, would say to how much he loved me right  before he went to sleep... ‘Amo-te cem vezes, amo-te mil vezes’... until one day he found a number that seemed more infinite: mil milhões”.

Nowadays, Virginia spends her time being a mother and a crafter but all started from a very young age. She grew up in a big house in the middle of very creative grandparents, that she fondly recalls: "I was at the feet of my grandfather while he was building a wooden doll house with furniture, wallpaper and carpet... a work of true dedication. The mother of my grandmother also taught me to knit and my grandmother, who still helps me a lot, spend hours in the sewing machine. And I felt good in that environment”.

Only much later, unemployed, she began to make some gifts for her friends. The friends began to tell to their friends and then to the friends of friends... Today the circle begins to grow even bigger...

more from Portugal…

laranja_lima_limao_01|english| Marina soon realized that among fabrics, yarns, needles and buttons she was happy: “I went to the University to study Textile Engineering but soon realized that my passion was to work with fabric! In 2007 I decided to take a unique opportunity and, learning step by step, I have perfected techniques and personal tastes creating the brand Laranja Lima Limão”.

Laranja Limão Lima is like her work: fresh and full of bright colours with mixed fabrics and tapes, bohemian and fun! As she likes to say: "the mind dreams and hands create... even the craziest ideas are possible to do! Imagination, dedication and love are just some of the things included in the points that I do with the needle".

matilde beldroega

matilde_beldroega_01|english| Matilde Beldroega® is a portuguese brand created by Rita Pinheiro. After she graduated in Plastic Arts, and had some ‘not so much motivated’ professional experience, she decided to create a project of her own! Coincidence or not, Rita, her husband and her cat Matilde have gone to live in the Alentejo, where her time has acquired another dimension, more human.

And this is how Matilde Beldroega was born, a name that comes from her cat MATILDE + an edible plant, which Rita loves in the form of soup, BELDROEGAS (purslane).

All of Matilde Beldroega designs are handmade one by one: always unique pieces!! All materials used are carefully selected: 100% cotton fabric, linen, wool, among others. The filling of the dolls is super soft and always anti-allergic.

Note: As all are unique pieces, the dolls from the photo are only examples of her work. The models you'll find on the kutchi shop will always be different but just as beautiful!

kutchi presents…

la_boite_a_couture_01 |english| Behind this brand is Géraldine Klein, a french woman with 30 years old. Living in Barcelona since 2006, she has dedicated her time to design and producing her own jewellery.

She tells us: "La Boîte à Couture means sewing box in French. As a child I spent hours with my grandmother because she had thousands of different buttons. Opening it was like discovering a treasure chest. Since I have memory that I like crafts creation. I've been working with many materials, all very different: paper mache, fimo, paint, cloth, salt paste... but I realized long ago that the fimo (colored mass that is baked) was the material that gave me more freedom for creation.”

After several years playing with shapes and colors, she has decided to turn her hobby into her work: "I've had a very positive feedback from many friends and people who have purchased my designs, which has encouraged me more to go and professionalize all my work."

All of her creations are related to experiences, memories or some personal anecdotes, such as the collar "Breakfast", explaining: "I've been smoking for 10 years ... 'Café+croissant+cigar' has been my daily breakfast for many years. A year ago I quit smoking and this necklace is like a trophy that I've given myself."

Her other passion is food, loves cooking and eating. The smells and flavors are her biggest inspiration: "Every figure has its history, the flan is the same as my mother's, the cherry pie reminded me of the fairy cakes and pastries are all designs from my dreams. I've always wanted to bake for real but I never succeeded. Fimo is the only way to get it! Memories, feelings, food, passions and dreams of my day to day in the form of rings, brooches, earrings ... I find it very unlikely and poetic transforming objects of my daily life into jewels. It makes me smile and try to spread that joy to everyone I can."
